Summer Crafts

Summer is almost here and kids are beginning to get out of school! With that being said, you want to make sure their activities for the summer area all lined up especially for those rainy days. Here are 4 kid-approved summer crafts to keep those little hands busy:

Handprint sun. I love this one because it uses your child’s hand prints.

Supplies: paper plate, yellow paint, black, yellow and orange construction paper.

Paint a paper plate yellow. While the paint is drying, trace your child’s hand on the yellow and orange construction paper (you will need 4-5 hand prints in each color). Also, cut out sunglasses from the black construction paper. Glue the sunglasses onto the bottom flat part of the plate. Glue the hands onto the other side of the plate to make the sun’s rays. Alternate orange and yellow. Cut a smile out if orange paper and glue it on.

Shell Fishies

Supplies needed: Large and small shells, different color paints, googly eyes. Paint your large shells with bright color of your choice. Paint small shells a different color. Glue 3 small shells onto one large shell to make 3 fins. Glue googly eye.

Lobster Handprint and Footprint (This makes a great keepsake!)

Sun3Supplies Needed: Large white construction paper or tag board, red paint, googly eyes, black and red marker.

Paint your child’s foot and stamp it on the bottom of the paper, then do the same with the hands in the top 2 corners of the page. Connect the hands to the foot with red marker. Glue on googly eyes and connect them with a black marker to the foot. Draw black lines across the foot.

Toilet Paper Roll Bird Feeder

Supplies needed: Toilet paper roll, 2 sticks (per roll), bird seed, peanut butter, ribbon or yarn.

Punch 2 holes across from each other near one end of the roll (this is for the yarn to hang them), then do the same with 4 more holes on the other end of the roll (to push the sticks through in and X formation). Insert the sticks through the 2 sets of holes. On the upper portion of the roll above the sticks, “paint” peanut butter all over the roll. Then roll it in bird seed. String the yarn through the top 2 holes to hang your feeder.
