Sometimes Moms Need to Hear the Love

Being a mother is the most wonderful job on earth. It is often also a thankless one. There is rarely someone standing by to tell you how wonderful you are and what an amazing job you are doing.  While the rewards are priceless, being in the “trenches” of motherhood is the majority of what we, as mothers experience on a day-to-day basis.  Cleaning up spills, wiping boogie noses, and being there for everyone is not just a weekly, or even monthly duty for most mothers.  It is a daily one.  When the drudgery starts to wear us down, how do we lift ourselves back up?

When the going gets tough, try to take some time to remind yourself of how blessed you really are.  When you are feeling tired and overwhelmed remember these things:

#1

You created another life! Carrying, delivering, and caring for a baby is no small task! You are amazing!

#2

You are a wonderful mother! Even on the toughest days, remember that no one is going to care for and love your children the way you do.

#3

Be proud of how strong your body is. Although your boobs might be big and heavy, they are super boobs that can feed another human being. And although your belly might still be flabby, think of what a miracle just happened!  You carried a baby inside your body for nine months.  Give yourself a break and relish how incredible your body is because of what it is capable of.

#4

Trust yourself. While you may see other mothers raising their children differently from you, it doesn’t mean they are doing it “better”. Be confident in what an amazing job you are doing for your own children.  The values and lessons you are teaching your child don’t need to be dictated by anyone else but you.

#5

You deserve a break. Make time for yourself. Be sure to take time for a walk, get a pedicure, have lunch with a friend, whatever. Taking a little bit of time just for you makes you a better mom.

On the days when you are exhausted and running on fumes from lack of sleep, remember what a blessing you are to your children and your family.
