Be A Hostess With The Mostest! How To Plan A Wine And Cheese Pairing Party

Bella Breakdown

Many of us love to entertain and have friends over for dinner parties and other fun events. If you love to entertain, but find yourself short on time, you don’t have to miss out on time with your friends. You can make your parties a lot simpler by hosting a cheese and wine pairing party. You don’t have to be a food or wine expert to do this. I love cheese and I love wine, but I’m definitely not an expert. Simply pick some wines and cheeses you think taste amazing together. Start by laying out the pairings as you have chosen them, but let your friends decide for themselves. Everyone’s palate and preferences are different, so it is fun to hear what your friend’s opinions are. The best way to start is to have a wine theme (whites, reds, bubbly) or a cheese theme (cheeses all made in France). Don’t forget to take the the cheese from the refrigerator 30-60 minutes before serving! Adding in some nibbles helps bring out the flavors of the wines and cheeses and some sliced French baguette helps to keep guests from getting too tipsy. Encourage your guests to taste the cheese first, then to taste a bite of the cheese and a sip of wine together.

To channel our inner summer staycation, I have decided to go with an all-white wine theme.

Cava (a sparkling Spanish white wine) with Manchego (a Spanish cheese) and some salted nuts.

Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio with a fresh goat cheese and some dried apricots.

Chardonnay with Brie or Camembert and some fresh strawberries.
