Breakfast on the Go: Morning Smoothie

A Delicious Breakfast Smoothie Recipe for All the Breakfast Haters Out There

I don’t know about you but breakfast is not my favorite meal of the day. If you offer me a big plate of pasta bolognese for dinner or a delicious chopped salad for lunch, I’m all in. For whatever reason, breakfast is not my thing. Between the rush of getting kids out the door and the fact that I just don’t feel that hungry in the morning, I needed to get creative with finding something both nutritious and filling to eat for breakfast on the go.

I came up with the smoothie idea by combining a little of this and a little of that from various recipes. I started by finding a great blender- one that is both easy to use and efficient. I found the Nutri-Ninja blender in Bed Bath & Beyond (don’t forget your 20% off coupon).

All you have to do is blend your ingredients right in the cup and then remove the blade and add the lid. I bring it in the car with me, so while I am dropping kids off to school and getting errands done, I am having a great breakfast on the go. I feel great knowing that I have just consumed at least one fruit and one vegetable and it keeps me full until lunch. So simple!

Main Ingredients

1 banana
1/4 avocado
Handful of spinach or kale
1 scoop protein powder (I use Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein)
1 to 1 & 1/2 cup almond or coconut milk (I use unsweetened)
A handful of ice cubes

Extra Flavor

To change up the flavor a bit, you can also add one or more of the following:
1 Tbsp. peanut butter
1 tsp. spirulina powder
1 Tbsp raw cacao powder
