Celeb stylist Anh Co Tran’s secret to wavy hair? Braiding while it’s still slightly damp! He tells clients like Demi Lovato, Michelle Williams, Chloe Grace Moretz and Jessica Chastain that this simple method will help them achieve that effortless “lived in” wavy hair look.
Wavy hair that’s slightly disheveled and tousled is a celebrity favorite, everywhere from the red carpet to a midday yoga class. Plus, you can make this style work for nearly any hair length even choppy bobs (a la Alexa Chung).
How to Master the Technique
Start by towel drying your hair, ensuring that it’s still a little damp. Then run a little leave-in conditioner through your tresses.
Next brush the hair through with a wet brush, and apply a little serum or oil to the ends to avoid frizzing.
Split the hair into two even sections (or 4 even quarters if you have a lot of hair) and begin braiding loose braids.
Then by the time you get to work (or wherever your destination might be) take out the braids, shake out your hair a bit and you’re good to go.
