How to Have A Super Sweet Easter Without All The Sugar

I feel like we just got rid of the Valentine’s Day candy and now Easter is almost here!  I have been trying to find ways to make Easter special for my children without overloading their baskets with candy. Although I of course will be providing plenty of candy, I don’t want to go overboard.  The crash my kids have after the sugar high is not pretty!

Firstly, I am “padding” their baskets with books they love, as well as some small toys. You can put in art supplies, bubbles, sand toys, chalk, balls, and Play Doh. The list of ideas is endless. This way I can put less candy and more fun into their baskets.  Anything your child likes is perfect!

We always start the morning with an egg hunt so this year instead of filling the eggs with candy, I have found little fun toys and other things to use instead. Mini-slinkys, little cars, stickers, tattoos, keychains, erasers, and sticky hands are all great fun ideas.

Start with a healthier version of brunch.  Begin the morning with a delicious fruit salad, veggie omelet, and banana blueberry muffins loaded with oats, whole wheat flour, and fruit.

Find a fun outdoor activity to do on Easter morning rather than sitting around eating cinnamon buns.  Welcome spring with a visit to an outdoor garden, go for a bike ride, have an egg and spoon race, play Easter bunny tag (same rules except everyone must hop), etc.  You get the picture!

These are just a few of the ways you can make Easter a little less sweet but a lot more fun!
