Bella Breakdown

Halloween is on the coming, and with that comes the excitement of dressing up to trick-or-treat. However, at this time of year costumes can be really pricey, especially if you have more than one child. Therefore, making the costumes yourself with things you have at home and a few inexpensive craft supplies is a way you can make a great costume for your child for a fraction of the price.

Animals

For this one, you can use any kind of ears and some face paint. Purchasing cat, bunny, dog, or other animal ears is pretty inexpensive. Then, all you need to do is to get some face paint and get creative. The outfit can simply be either all black or all white or brown depending on the color of the animal of your choice.

Take a black shirt and sweatpants and pin socks, underwear, and any other small clothes on to it to make it look like it came out of the dryer all sticking together.

Snowball

Take an oversized light blue sweatshirt and hot glue or sew white styrofoam balls all over it.

Rainbow

Dress your child in various colorful striped clothing items such as leggings, shirts, headband and tutu.

Raining cats and dogs

To make this, you need a clear plastic umbrella, black felt and poster board, and black thread. Cut out cat and dog shapes out of felt and black poster board. Hot glue them onto the clear umbrella and hang some around the edges. Pair it with a raincoat and rain boots and your costume is done.

In addition to making your own costumes, going to thrift stores and shops is another way to save some money on Halloween costumes. Buying a gently used costume from a reputable consignment store is a great way to save money if you are not the crafty type. Whether the costume is a DIY or not, you can have a great costume for your child for a lot less.
