Who Were You Pulling For At The Oscars?

Did your favorite movie make it?

It’s almost that time…time to celebrate all of you favorite actors and movies from this year at the 90th Annual Academy Awards! This year, funny man Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting, and it’s shaping up to be quite the night. Speaking of shaping, the one movie that is all the buzz of the ceremony this year is “The Shape Of Water,” with Sally Hawkins and Octavia Spencer. This movie pulled in a whopping 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (lead and supporting), and Best Actor in a Supporting Role!

If you have not seen it yet, the film (directed by Guillermo del Toro) is set in 1960s Baltimore. Elisa is a mute, isolated woman who works as a cleaning lady in a hidden, high-security government laboratory. Sounds pretty intriguing, right? As she uncovers classified secrets, the plot begins to thicken…and we won’t ruin that plot for you! Actress Octavia Spencer is no stranger to the award spotlight. She won an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award in 2012 for her role as supporting actress in “The Help,” and has also won a bevy of other awards for her skills. Director of the film, Guillermo del Toro, is looking for his first Academy Award, though he has received five nominations.

Though “The Shape Of Water” kind of stole the show, it of course is not the only film up for Best Picture (which is always one of the more exciting categories). Here are the other films up for Best Picture this year: Call Me by Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
