First things first, ingredients!

• 6 tbsp. cream cheese, divided
• 1/4 c. sugar, divided (plus more for sprinkling)
• 1 tsp. vanilla, divided
• 2 c. (1 pt.) fresh or frozen blueberries
• 2 tbsp. cornstarch
• Juice of half a lemon
• 1 (8-oz.) tube, crescent dough sheet
• All-purpose flour, for work surface
• Egg wash (1 beaten egg plus 1 tsp. milk)
• 1/4 c. sliced almonds
• 1/2 c. powdered sugar
• 2 tbsp. heavy cream

First things first, preheat your oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. By doing this now you shorten the time between staring at the uncooked happiness and actually eating it.

Next start on that gooey filling! Grab 4 tablespoons of that cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and a half-teaspoon of vanilla in a bow and mix it up! In a different bowl, stir together your blueberries, two tablespoons of sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch.

Now to prepare that flaky dough you’ve been dreaming about! Unroll your pre-made crescent roll dough; if the edges are perforated pinch them together to get rid of the holes. Put a small amount of flour on the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle. I rolling pin is recommended!

Time to put it all together and create that beautiful braid. Spread the cream cheese mixture you made first in the center of rectangle leaving about 3 inches on each side. Now, grab that bowl of blueberries you mixed second and spread them over the cream cheese, same 3 inch deal applies. With a sharp knife, cut 1-inch lines along both sides of the dough.

Starting from the top (because we aren’t Drake) alternate folding the strips over the blueberries. Brush the top of the pastry with egg wash and throw some sugar and almonds on it! Bake that sucker for 15 minutes and reluctantly refrain from devouring while you let it cool, only slightly.

To kill sometime while you’re waiting for it to cool make your glaze. Grab that remaining cream cheese and stir with powdered sugar and vanilla in a small bowl until the sugar and cream cheese are evenly mixed. You can even whisk in the cream if you want to loosen the glaze up a bit.

Drizzle that glaze, cut crosswise and serve! Or, Grab the entire thing and eat it as quickly as possible so no one else can have any.
