Starving yourself is never the best way to get the body you want… just ask Shailene Woodley. The actress, most known for her roles in The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, The Fault In Our Stars, and Big Little Lies lived on a 350 calorie diet per day in order to prepare for her newest role. Woodley will be portraying Tami Oldham in the movie Adrift. The film focuses on an experienced sailor who becomes stranded in the middle of the ocean for a total for 41 days. Unsurprisingly, that would make any person extremely thin. But did Woodley take it too far to get into character?
“Miserable” is the word the star used to describe the diet. “I can’t sleep when I’m hungry, so I would have a glass of wine to basically pass out.” She was down to eating two eggs, salmon, and broccoli every day to get “in shape,” and her mental health definitely suffered. If celebrities are even proving that starvation is not the key to body success, shouldn’t we be listening? A balanced diet is going to have all the food groups, so deprivation won’t make you skinny nor sexy, it will just really mess with your brain.
