The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is one of the most sought after events for professional models. Names like Kendall Jenner, Heidi Klum, and Tyra Banks have taken the stage to showcase the lingerie brand’s most exclusive and outrageous collections.

For many models, this show is a foundation of their career and a chance to launch into modeling stardom. Such is the case for supermodel Adriana Lima, who walked her final Victoria’s Secret fashion show runway on November 8th. Originally from Brazil, Lima joined Victoria’s Secret as a teen, walking the 1999 fashion show as a young 18-year-old. After signing a contract with the brand in 2000, she would be a Victoria’s Secret Angel for many years to come.

After nearly 20-years with the brand, Lima has shown a true evolution in both the style and character of the iconic angel. Now 37, Lima has become a mother and a role model to women everywhere. In multiple interviews, she shared her desire to continue working in philanthropy and with women’s organizations, inspiring and building up communities everywhere.

As for Victoria’s Secret, she thanks the brand for all it has given her. The angels become a true family, and Lima is gracious for the company she has kept in her long career. In an emotional onstage goodbye and many social media posts, she sums up a life-changing experience:

“Dear Victoria, Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly,” the 37-year-old model captioned an Instagram video featuring her walking in the show over the years. “And all the ❤ to the best fans in the ‘world’! Love, Adriana 💖”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on December 2nd on CBS.
