Animals That Can Predict The World Cup

Bella Breakdown

We thought that humans cared about who wins the Fifa World Cup every 4 years. Apparently, animals do too. For the 2018 world cup, we have had three predictions from three different species on who will be big this year in the world cup. First off, Achilles the psychic Russian cat predicted that Russia will win the World Cup opener by choosing between two bowls of food with country flags sticking out of them. Achilles is said to have a decent past in predicting outcomes of sporting events, successfully guessing three of the four winners of the 2017 tournament.

Coinciding with that prediction, a bunch of meerkats from a British zoo rushed to a Russian flag when placed in front of them, also predicting Russia to be the winners against Saudi Arabia in the opening match. But here’s where it gets (even more) interesting. Mystic Marcus, a psychic pig from England who successfully predicted Donald Trump to win the presidency and the outcome of the Brexit vote, was given a circle of green apples with flags poking out for each country. He carefully chose four specific ones to eat. These are said to be the semifinalists, and Mystic Marcus chose Belgium, Argentina, Uruguay, and Nigeria to take it to the final four.

Previously, we’ve had octopi and chickens predict the World Cup winners, so let’s see if these animalistic instincts will hold true as the 2018 Fifa World Cup begins today, June 14th.
