Any diet that advocates for the consumption of bacon might be seen as a blessing in many dieters opinions. Keto has more or less become one of the fastest growing dieting trends in recent years. It cultivated a rapid social media following as many dieters posted pictures of their dramatic, and relatively quick weight loss.
The Keto diet involves drastically reducing carbs, which is the body’s main source of energy while doubling up on protein. This change puts the body into ketosis, which is a state induced by low food intake. This dramatic change to the body is likely why so many Keto dieters experience such a significant weight loss.
It’s important to understand the downsides of this diet, including experiencing what is known as the “Keto Flu”. Within the first few weeks of starting this diet, participants are likely to experience stomach pains, nausea, dizziness, headaches, irritability, insomnia, lack of concentration, and just general malaise. For many this makes implementing fitness nearly impossible and might even throw them off of the diet altogether.
