Bill Makes It Illegal To Leave Pets In Hot Cars

Bella Breakdown

Thousands of animals die every year from being left in hot cars. Fortunately, action is being taken to protect these animals. In many states leaving a pet in the car is already illegal, but other states, like Michigan, are starting to adopt these laws.
Michigan lawmakers are meeting to discuss a bill about leaving pets in dangerous situations. The legislation would make it illegal to leave pets unattended in a car if the conditions endanger the animal’s health. Veterinarians remind pet owners that cars are like greenhouses. It might be 70 degrees outside, but within 10 minutes it could be 90 degrees. Even leaving the windows cracked doesn’t do much good and they are still at risk for heat stroke.
