“Do’s” And “Dont’s” Of Workplace Dating

Bella Breakdown

Every year, we spend over 1600 hours in the office at work. We spend more time with coworkers than with family and friends. But relationships in the office are complicated (no, not The Office TV show, although we would all love a Jim and Pam happy ending.) So here are some of the “do’s” and “dont’s” of dating in the workplace.

Do keep an eye out on how coworkers handle themselves under pressure in the office. This will allow you to get to know someone on an intimate level, as work causes a lot of stress in everyone’s life.

Don’t mix personal and professional lives. Set your boundaries in your relationship clearly, especially if your office has strict rules against office relationships.

Do show affection and aid your coworker through their projects and tasks. It’s important to let them know that you’re still there for each other, no matter what the circumstance is.

Don’t let your in-office relationship affect your work performance. Remember that when you’re in the office, you’re there to work. Don’t get distracted by your lover or sneak off with them in the middle of the work day. Keep it focused at work so when you’re off the clock there’s more desire to focus on each other.

At the end of the day, you should be thankful that the company you work for brought you and your workplace spouse together, so repay them by focusing on your occupational duties, and focus on your lover when it’s time to punch out.
