Popular lifestyle magazine Elle opened its doors to about 4,000 guests at its inaugural Elle UK Weekender Festival at the Saatchi Gallery. It ran for three days from Friday to Sunday with about 100 speakers talking about building a business or career, handling social media, motherhood, and steps to saving the world literally.

Friday started with seminars from Diane Von Furstenberg and Elle’s Anne-Marie Curtis. A plotted history of Diane’s life was made available after which in her chat with Anne she acknowledged that while she was empowering herself, she was also empowering other women. Rosamund Pike spoke about her role in “A Private War” while she talked about how she never reads news about her, the #Metoo movement and motherhood.

Eva Chen sat with Neelam Gill and the pioneer of models of color to talk about the not so glamorous life of being a model and diversity in fashion. Aside from seminars, attendees were offered snacks, fashion classes, and photo booths. There were also fashion items for sale by big fashion brands.

Saturday talks focused on women in the entertainment industry: Lady Lehsurr, Ware and Clara Amfo talked about what it takes to work in a male dominated industry and sexism. “Game Of Throne” actresses Maisie Williams and Lena Headey heady talked about what it really takes to be an actor while overcoming panic attacks and getting used to private jets trips. Writers Emma Gannon, Mishal Husain, and Otegha Uwagba talked about career choices.

After the seminars, the attendees were given a chance for pampering and relaxation with various brands.

Sunday featured talks on hair politics and the #Metoo movement while model Rosie Huntington Whiteley gave tips on how to run a beauty business, being a mom, and her makeup essentials.
