Luckily for me, I’ve never necessarily been a picky eater. I’ve always been okay with different flavors, vegetables, an occasional odd meat. Never have I been so picky, that my diet had to resort to eating bugs. For one young woman in Philadelphia, bugs seemed to be the only thing she enjoyed eating. That’s right, I said it. Bugs.
24 year old, Joy Nemerson began getting creative with her meals because she was suffering from food intolerance. Joy started to implement food into her diet. She advocates for the fact that these creepy crawlies contain just as much nutrients and proteins as cows meat does.
It is true that a large variety of countries participate in bug eating. It is truly a natural staple of their diet, and they seem to be doing fine. Maybe Joy is on to something?
Either way, you may have to admit that joy make bugs look kind of appetizing. Her passion for gastronomy has led her to create items such as ant and cricket fried rice, meal worm stir fry, cricket powder gnocchi, cricket pizza, beetle canapes. Alright maybe it doesn’t sound as appetizing as she makes it look. Who knows, Joy might be ahead of her time, but for now we’ll leave the bug eating to her.
