Foods That Even Chefs And Servers Won’t Eat

Bella Breakdown

There are few foods chefs and servers absolutely will not eat at a restaurant. Take it from someone who has been in the service industry for almost 10 years. We pretty much eat anything. I’ve seen servers actually take food off of a plate someone didn’t finish. Yeah, our standards aren’t that high. But there are a few items that we will warn you against.

1. Hollandaise Sauce
Yes it is the perfect topping for eggs Benedict and asparagus, but it is extremely susceptible to going bad, quickly. If you’re craving it, ask your server to ask their chef how long ago it was prepared, or how they store it. It’s an annoying question, sure, but better safe than sorry.

2. Bar Milk
Don’t bother ordering any drink that has milk or cream in it. A lot of times milk that has only been used once or twice will remain in a bartender’s refrigerator. On a busy shift they might use it before checking.

3. Beer On Draught
Now, this one, you might want to take with a grain of salt. Figuratively speaking of course. If bar taps are not cleaned properly they do tend to mildew. Just be aware of how clean a bar looks before ordering a beer on tap.
