If you have considered yourself an avid exerciser, you have also probably had to take a break from exercise. Now this break could have come for a number of reasons. You might have started a job that required a whole new schedule, you could have suffered an injury or had to get surgery, you might’ve gotten ill for sometime, or maybe you just stopped for no other reason than life got in the way. It can be difficult to find that workout groove again. So here are some ways you can get back into your fitness routine after a break:
1. Take It Easy
You’re not going to be able to do all of the exercises you used to do. Do not push yourself on your first workout back, or else you might be doing more harm than good.
2. Change Up Your Usual Routine
If an injury or surgery has left you unable to do your old workouts, it’s probably time to try something new. A switch in the types of workouts you normally do is a great way to help your body heal properly.
3. Remember, Fitness Is A Lifestyle
Remaining fit is a lifelong commitment, if you want it to be. So don’t get down on yourself if you’ve had to take a break. All things in life ebb and flow, fitness included.
