How To DIY The Heck Out Of Your Bath

Bella Breakdown

We already told you how to transform your bathroom into a spa for just a few bucks, but when it comes time to get in that comfy soaking tub of yours, you deserve a truly special experience. I mean, who doesn’t love a nice relaxing bath with a good glass of wine? It’s an easy way to take some time for yourself, maybe do a few minutes of meditation, and really center yourself after a hectic day. So next time you get ready for that glorious bath, try adding some DIY elements to make the experience that much more special.

Customize Your Bath Soak

For a DIY salt bath, mix epsom salts, 1/2 cup of baking soda and 10 drops of essential oil together and sprinkle into the water. Depending on what your needs are that day, use different essential oils to heal and relax. Here’s a starter guide to each type of oil:

Lavender – Calming
Grapefruit – Uplifting
Peppermint – Fatigue
Cedarwood – Depression
Chamomile & Rosemary – Headache

Use a Mix of Light Sources

I love to light a candle while I’m soaking in the bath, and depending on the essential oil you choose, you can add an accompanying scent. But for those who experience Seasonal Effective Disorder and other light sensitivities, you might consider investing in a light therapy lamp. They’re cheap and produce the perfect soothing light source. Try this one from Amazon!

Try Meditation

I love using the Calm app for a quick few minutes of re-centering. Bath time is the perfect environment to try a few minutes of meditation. You can also download podcasts or other recordings that lead you through some great mindfulness exercises.
