Janelle Monae Wanted To Be Involved With “Welcome To Marwen” Movie Because Of Anti-Bullying

American musician, actress, and producer Janelle Monae is known for her outspoken attitude towards politics, racism and bullying. At the recently concluded premiere of “Welcome to Marwen” Janelle talks about how much anti-bullying meant to her with regards to her character in the movie.

Clad in her signature black and white, a print pant suit with a tie and a brooch and hat, she spoke about how excited she is to have been casted in the movie which centers on bullying based on gender norms. She said, “Oh my Goodness absolutely, the anti-bullying message that this movie has is super important in a way that the message happening is very innovative and I am happy to be a part of something with a strong message.”

The 32-year-old is known to speak mostly about how anyone should not be judged because of the way they are or created just because it is different from ours especially their sexuality. She also mentioned that she is very happy to work with women who were saviors in the movie as it is a clear similarity with reality.

She mentioned that Robert Zemeckis was a joy to work with, she mentioned that he helped everyone casted in the movie read their scripts at the table reading. She also mentioned how she was so excited to work with actors she has always admired especially the women.

The movie is now in theaters and is getting nothing but rave reviews. It is an American biography comedy written by Robert Zemericks and Caroline Thompson with inspiration from a documentary named  “Marwencol,” that is based off a true story about a man recovering after being violently bullied by five men and left for dead only because he talked about his love for cross-dressing.
