On Friday, rumors were circling that Jennifer Lawrence and Harvey Weinstein had engaged in a sexual relationship following statements made by Weinstein himself. An anonymous actor is suing Weinstein for inappropriate behavior and assault, one in a string of lawsuits made against the director.
Supposedly, Weistein’s defense included information detailing a sexual relationship with Jennifer Lawrence, hoping that somehow that would justify the charges held against him by other actors. Weinstein even allegedly held himself responsible for helping J-Law win an Oscar, though his representatives fail to confirm any of these allegations.
“Do you even want to be an actress?” Weinstein said, according to the suit. “I slept with Jennifer Lawrence and look where she is; she has just won an Oscar.”
Jennifer Lawrence has remained calm and composed throughout these statements, and has been a long-time advocate for women in the business. On Friday, in the classy, elegant style that she always maintains, she released her own statement denouncing Weinstein.
“My heart breaks for all the women who were victimized by Harvey Weinstein,” her statement read, according to Variety. “I have never had anything but a professional relationship with him. This is yet another example of the predatory tactics and lies that he engaged in to lure countless women.”
