If someone asked you right now, where the best place to find love was, you would most like answer “online”. It is just the way we meet people now. You might also think that after a dating app, that work, school, or even at a bar would be another good place to meet people. However, have you thought that you could very well meet the love of your life on a plane?

An HSBC survey asked 5,000 travelers about how they met their spouse, and 1 out of 50 said they met their partner on a plane. Now, I don’t know about you but I pretty much have my headphones in the entire time I’m traveling, but maybe it’s time to hang up the headphones and strike up a conversation with your seatmate.

It could be the combination of forced intimacy, a lengthy travel time with no escape, and the fact that it’s a little dangerous, that creates a stronger bond than just your average date.

So, the next time you’re traveling don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with the person next to you. In general, human interaction is actually really great for us.

It is an amazing and humbling thing to meet a complete stranger and realize that you have a lot of similarities and connections. It reminds us to stop being so self absorbed, and that we should be sure to connect with our fellow human being.
