The lines between politics and Hollywood have long been blurred as the two worlds influence each other more than once may originally assume. As such, many aspects of political culture have moved their way into popular culture—the fashion of Jackie O, famous words from past presidents, even memes like #thanksobama have become popular all thanks to political stardom.

Among their impact on mainstream culture are books: memoirs, journals, and stories of life on The Hill. Recently, former First Lady Michele Obama’s Becoming took the literature world by storm, and it didn’t take long for everyone else to become even more obsessed with the toned, tenacious Obama.

As her book become popular, including becoming a bestselling memoir in the history genre, her corresponding audiobook did as well. So popular in fact, that it has received a nod from her Hollywood. Nominated for a Grammy in the spoken word album category, Michelle Obama’s Becoming is becoming something much bigger.

She’s not the first in her family to receive such a high-brow nomination. Barack received two Grammy’s in 2005 and 2007 for each of his books. Michelle was also nominated for a Grammy for her first book American Grown.

As these two different worlds become more interconnected, it will be increasingly interesting to see the spheres mesh for the greater good of culture. As for Michelle, we can’t wait to see where this journey takes her.
