Post-Party Cleanup Hacks

#1 – Set up the bar outside to avoid those dreaded red wine on white carpet stains.

#2 – Double bag your trash cans so there’s always a bag in case one rips.

#3 – Start with a clean slate by tidying the kitchen and emptying the dishwasher before the party.

#4 – Provide paper napkins instead of cloth ones to give female guests a place to blot lipstick at the table.

#5 – After the party, don’t just throw your linens into the washing machine. That’s a recipe for set-in stains. Immediately treat any lipstick stains with liquid dishwashing soap. Treat red wine stains with salt and club soda.

#6 – Rinse off plates and put them directly in the dishwasher. There’s nothing worse than waking up the next day to hardened food.

#7 – Treat water rings with non–gel toothpaste or full-fat mayonnaise for an hour.

#8 – Put leftovers into a plastic bag so your fridge isn’t overtaken by bulky Tupperware.

#9 – Host a day-after dinner with close friends to eat up all the yummy leftovers.

#10 – Freeze leftover wine in an ice cube tray to use in sauces, soups and stews.

#11 – Transform leftover, stale bread into seasoned croutons or a delicious Panzanella salad.
