In life we can’t always be alone. We need partners, roommates, friends, family. And sometimes, you just need someone to travel the world with. Your travel buddy never has to be a romantic partner. Just remember that. A traveling attitude is a different kind of attitude altogether, which is why some people are better traveler’s than others. So what makes a really great travel buddy?

1. Flexibility
Honestly, a good traveler has to be someone who is flexible. A buddy who is as flexible as you are is perfect. Flights get delayed, bad weather pops up, plans change on a dime and no good will be done if you have someone who is inconvenienced by change.

2. They have their own plans
This benefits you in a couple of ways. One, you can wander by yourself. Some travelers like to take their alone time to see what they want to see, so having a buddy who lets you be is perfect. The second reason a travel buddy with their own plans is great, is because they might have thought of something to do that you hadn’t. That way, you can go see something you might not have ever thought to see before.

3. Documentation
Let’s be honest, it’s hard to take picture of yourself by one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and someone might not always be around to take a picture. Having a buddy helps you document your travels! It might seem trivial, but it’s kind of cool and you’ll like not having all selfies in your camera roll.
