Smoothies For A Holiday Detox

Bella Breakdown

If you’re like me, this time of year is filled with treats and lots of extra indulgent calories. It’s perfectly fine to #treatyoself this season, but all that extra rich food can make you feel lethargic, bloated and just plain gross. The best way to combat the holiday bulge is to mix in some super healthy recipes and detox the next day to help regain your energy. A smoothie or nutrient-packed juice is a great way to get your groove back!

Tropical Green Detox Smoothie

Super hydrating and super tasty, this smoothie is packed with flavor and nutrition. Drink first thing in the morning to boost energy and digestion.

1 handful of spinach
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1/2 cup green grapes
1 stick of celery
2 tsp. ginger
Squeeze of lemon juice
Water to thin as needed (or coconut water)

Blend all ingredients and thin with water or coconut water as desired.

Immunity-Boosting Vegan Smoothie

This creamy smoothie is loaded with fiber and antioxidants, with the option to add silken tofu for the ultimate creamy texture.

1 cup frozen berries
1 cup organic spinach or kale
1/2 cup bananas (previously peeled, sliced & frozen)
1 Tbsp flaxseed meal
1 cup fruit juice of choice
2 Tbsp silken tofu (optional)

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth. If too thick, add a splash more juice or water. For more sweetness, add extra frozen banana. Pour into two serving glasses (as original recipe is written) and enjoy.

Meal-Replacer Avocado Smoothie

If you’re looking for a light lunch, this smoothie is perfect. It’s filled with fiber and fruit, plus an avocado for healthy fat and a filling consistency.

1 1/2 cups apple juice
2 cups spinach or kale (stemmed and chopped)
1 apple (unpeeled, cored, and chopped)
1/2 avocado (chopped)
Water or coconut water as needed

Combine the apple juice, spinach, apple, and avocado in a blender and puree until smooth, about 1 minute, adding water to reach the desired consistency.
