Staying Out Of Vacation Debt

Bella Breakdown

Sometimes, you know you just need a vacation, but you often look in your wallet and know that you just can’t afford it right now. You might be really tempted to make a very common vacation mistake: putting your vacation on your credit card. I hate to break it to you, but like everything else, if you don’t have your own money for a vacation, you probably won’t have money to pay off your credit card. So how do we make sure to stay out of vacation debt?

1. Save!
Even if it takes a while, create a savings fund that is specifically for your vacation. Ballpark flights, hotel, transportation, activities, and allow yourself a little spending money. This way you’re not using rent money to pay for your flight back home… you know, because then you won’t have a home to go to.

2. Discounts, Discounts
There are a lot of websites that offer discounts on hotel and transportation. Groupon often offers a lot of all inclusive hotel packages. When it comes to flights, book in advance for cheaper tickets, and keep your eye open for any specials.

3. Slum It
Well, don’t really slum it, but get crafty about where you’re going to stay. If you happen to know someone wherever you’re going, ask to stay with them. If you’re comfortable, stay in a hostile.
