1 lb. butter
6 large eggs
3 cups sugar
4 cups flour
3/4 cups milk
1 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Follow These Simple Steps

Start by whipping a pound of butter – hey, we never said this was a healthy pound cake, just that it was sinfully delicious, and a pound of butter is one reason why.

Crack six large eggs into a separate bowl then slowly add three cups of sugar to the butter until creamed together.

Next add the eggs one at a time until fully combined. Did we mention how easy this cake was? To the same mixing bowl, slowly add four cups of milk and 3/4 cups of flour, alternating between flour and milk until fully incorporated to the batter.

Add one teaspoon of almond extract and one teaspoon of vanilla extract for that classic pound cake flavor. Fold together and add dollops of batter to a greased and floured tube pan.

Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Upend onto a platter carefully and transfer to a wire rack to cool. Oh my goodness, this cake is simply perfect.

Top with a simple dusting of powdered sugar, a powdered sugar and lemon juice glaze drizzle, a healthy dollop of fresh whipped cream or freeze a few slices and toss them in the toaster for a quick and delicious any-day breakfast option.
