The “Clean Eating” Rules To Follow, And Break

Bella Breakdown

There are so many rules to eating clean. What to eat and what not to eat can be a constant struggle. Here are the rules you can break and the rules that you just can’t.
Definitely cut back on sugar. It is sometimes easy to eliminate desserts and drinks but sugar can be tricky. Be wary on added sweeteners in anything you are eating or drinking.
Eat more veggies! We should eat at least two and a half cups of vegetables per day. But unfortunately, only nine percent of us actually do this. Most people think that to get to two and half cups, you have to eat a lot of salad and veggies at sides. You incorporate your veggies into things like soup and even salsa. This is a delicious way to meet your veggie quota.
Choose whole grains. Grains that are refined lose more than half of their nutritional value during the refinery process. Instead, opt for quinoa or other grains that are minimally processed and are made with whole-grain flour.
Read labels. Look for short ingredient lists. If it is a long ingredients list, it is probably not a good idea to buy it. Another good trick is being able to pronounce the ingredient list. If there is something you can’t pronounce or don’t recognize, don’t buy it!
Do not avoid ALL processed foods. Some processed foods are actually great options like frozen fruit. You can put frozen fruit in smoothies or even melt them down to make your own jam.
Do not detox. Your liver and kidneys will secrete toxins on their own, you don’t need help from that trending juice cleanse.
Do not fear conventionally grown food! Just because it says organic doesn’t mean it is more beneficial to your health. And if you do choose organic foods, definitely focus on produce.
Follow these rules to stay on track to a healthy diet!
