The negative space trend is all over the nail art world right now. We love this trend because you don’t need anything besides your normal lacquers and polishes. With a few guidelines you’ll be able to replicate the negative space at home and have nails as gorgeous as any celebrity!

Negative space is all about creating shapes on the nail and leaving spaces where you can see the naked nail. It’s very important to keep to graphic and simple shapes. If you stick to parallel lines, chevrons, stripes, squares, arches, making sure you have equal distance between your shape and outline so it really pops.

Nail The Trend in 3 Steps:

1. For your first coat, use the nail polish brush to create the basic shapes, then for the second coat, go back in with the outlining brush so you can be more accurate.

2. You can use a paintbrush dipped in acetone or a correcting liquid to tighten up and make your angles really sharp.

3. Once you’re happy with your shapes, you can outline in a contrasting color and finish with your top coat.
