This Winery Is Making Cold-Brew Infused Red Wine

Bella Breakdown

Yes, you heard it right…this wine is infused with cold brew coffee and we want to try it, immediately. The wine is a blend of reds (like petite sirah, teroldego, cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel) and is infused with the cold brew right before bottling. Finally, two of our favorite things combined into one delicious sip.

Apothic Wines created the wine after seeing the demand for cold brew coffee grow 430% between 2015 and 2017 in the U.S. According to the creators, you should be able to taste coffee, red fruit and toasted oak all in one sip. But, don’t worry…you won’t get wired from one glass since just one is similar to the amount of caffeine in a decaf coffee. Though, you may feel a little bit of a buzz from the alcohol as the alcohol volume is 13.5%. The choice to use cold brew coffee is because it is said to have a smoother taste than iced of drip coffee, and red wine of course is also said to be smoother than white. Hence the perfect harmony and balance of the two.

“I realized that many of the characteristics in cold brew coffee and red win naturally complement each other. This led us to experiment with a few blends, eventually leading to the seamless creation of Apothic Brew, which brings together red fruit notes and subtle mocha essences of cold brew,” Winemaker Deb Juergenson says.
