Jamie Foxx isn’t letting any breakup stop him working because the actor has just been announced alongside Tina Fey in a new animated film. The two stars will be starring in Pixar’s new film Soul with a star-studded cast.

The movie news came over the weekend during Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Audience members got to see the first look of the animated film and learned more about the plot. Soul imagines that every person on earth comes pre-installed with a soul formed and perfected in a cosmic realm.

Foxx will play a middle-school music teacher on earth who dreams of playing at the legendary New York jazz club The Blue Note. After the wrong step into an open sewer grate, Joe slips back into his soul from back in the other realm — with some existential work to do before he might land his big gig.

Daveed Diggs, Questlove, and Phylicia Rashad are also slated to star alongside Foxx and Fey. Soul will be the second original movie to be released after Pixar’s Onward starring Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spencer.

Soul is set to premiere June 19, 2020.
