Yesterday was a monumental day for beauty YouTuber Nikkie de Jager who released a video called “I’m Coming Out” to reveal her status as a transgender woman. While there were a lot of people celebrating Nikkie coming out, someone from her past decided to blast her.

The sister of the Too Faced co-founder (Jerrod Blandino) known as “Dani California” or @makupprincess on Instagram bashed former collaboration partner Nikkie Tutorials. On the @makupprincess Instagram profile, she changed her bio to say “Transgender huh? That’s not the only thing she’s been LYING about,” targeting Nikkie Tutorials.

If you think this went unnoticed then you may have not seen top trending on Twitter. #TooFaced started trending this morning with more chiming in by the minute with many people calling the company transphobic and citing the company’s past issues with racism. Too Faced received a bad reputation in the beauty community starting with their limited shade range, featuring more lighter shades than darker ones and offering limited colors for darker shades.

Since blowing up on Twitter the bio of @makupprincess Instagram page was changed to say, “Lets be clear, I love trans people & dislike anyone who lies to hurt others! Period!” Regardless of the context, this isn’t the first time Nikkie had problems with Too Faced. Three years ago Nikkie signed a contract with Too Faced for a deal to create a palette with her and cheated her out of the deal.

In the latest Shane Dawson docuseries about making a collection with beauty YouTuber and beauty brand owner, Jeffree Star, he revealed that in the Too Faced deal with Nikkie that she was only paid $50,000 when Too Faced profited over $10 million from the collection. Nikkie later went on accepting the responsibility of being cheated by Too Faced because she was “naive” and didn’t know the potential of the collection.

If this deal wasn’t bad enough, Nikkie claims that Too Faced allegedly changed the formula that compromised the quality of the palette leading to thousands of negative reviews, all without Nikkie knowing. Nikkie says it wasn’t about the money but she truly cared about the negative reviews.

Too Faced has yet to make an official statement or comment on the matter yet and Business Insider says Too Faced did not immediately respond for their request for comment. Though Too Faced is attempting to avoid the issue, former fans are taking to Twitter posting videos of destroying or trashing Too Faced products.
