Vacation: Because You Might Need It

Bella Breakdown

It turns out that United States Citizens are vacation deprived. That’s right, the percentage of Americans who are not using their full vacation days is at an all time high. In 2017, Americans only used 10 of their 14 allotted vacation days on average. It is highly likely that the days used were not even for vacation, but rather for emergency.

The reason workers are not using their vacation days is because they feel like they can’t afford a vacation. This is understandable as a majority of individuals salary is going to the cost of living. Better jobs are typically in more condensed cities, where the cost of rent can be astronomical. Sorry vacation days, we have to put roofs over our heads.

Americans often need those vacation days. If you’ve found yourself fatigued from work, maybe even dreaming about putting in your two weeks, you might benefit from two weeks away from work, rather than permanently leaving. Many countries have companies that essentially force you to leave, and pay for it. Until American companies can get on board with that inspired idea, it’s up to you to make your vacation happen! You deserve it. The people who do end up vacationing, often spend the time feeling guilty or even working!
