Visit The Museum Of Disgusting Food

Bella Breakdown

Have you ever wished there was a way you could view all of the world’s most disgusting foods in one place? Probably not, but now you might want to since such a place has been created. “The Disgusting Food Museum” is located in Malmo, Sweden. It features foods from 80 countries. The whole idea of the museum is to understand what exactly cultivates disgust internationally. So many of these foods that are on display are not necessarily seen as ‘disgusting in their culture.

The ‘American Corner’ features lab grown meat, a jello salad, and Spam. Normally you wouldn’t necessarily think twice about these items, but in retrospect they are kind of gross. Other foods that were featured included sheep eye ball juice from Mongolia, fried tarantula from Cambodia, sheep organ sausage from Scotland.

There was balut from the Philippines, bull penis from China, and even an entire fruit bat from Guam. A lot of the ‘disgusting’ foods from the majority of the countries were some type of molded or fermented food. This was likely because it was created many centuries ago out of necessity, and then passed down as a tradition that then engrained itself into the country’s culture.

So if you happen to find yourself in Sweden, stop by this one of a kid museum!
