Trying to cut calories from your diet can be tricky, but why should you have to give up your favorite foods?

Ilyse Schapiro and Hallie Rich have written a book called “Should I Scoop Out my Bagel?”, and by the way, they answer “yes” to that. You can save 75 calories or more. The List’s Donna Ruko has three more clever calorie saving food hacks for you.

Cereal– When they analyzed the sugar and calorie content of some breakfast cereals, they found that cereals such as Froot Loops contained fewer calories and grams of sugar then a seemingly “healthy” cereal, such as Kellogg’s Smart Start.

Sushi– The rice in your favorite California roll is loaded with salt and sugar. So how can this can leave you feeling hungry just a little while later after eating a big meal? The authors found that dehydration can mimic hunger. So, the quantity of sodium you just ingested may be the culprit if you’re feeling hungry.

Alcohol– Beware of sugar-filled mixers for your favorite alcoholic beverage. They can be loaded with empty calories. Instead, opt for your favorite glass of wine, which has fewer calories than a pre-made mix. Cheers to that! We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, wine just may be your very best friend!
