Dealing With Long Distance

Bella Breakdown

There is nothing quite as wonderful as spending time with your partner, and to live close to them or even live with them can be even better. However, there are times in our lives when we are in a relationship with someone who lives nowhere near us. This is usually what we call the “long distance relationship”.

They pretty much are as bad as they sound. No one really wants to be away from someone they love for extended periods of time, however things like work and family often take us to far away places. So, how can you deal with distance from your partner in a successful manner?

First and foremost, you must be open about what you two want from each other. If you both see the relationship going long term, than you have to let each other know. If one of you is hesitant, than there might be no point in moving forward with the long distance. Honesty is key in a long distance relationship. Your trust has to go the lengths of the distance between the two of you.

Celebrate the fact that you have more independence than couples in normal relationships. You have the time to work late hours, or go out with friends. You should do so. Keep the love alive between each other by writing letters, sending pictures, Skyping, or Facetiming. Try to visit each other, make the relationship a priority.
