Healthy Alternatives: 3 Sea Salts To Spruce Up Your Foods

There’s something good that’s sprucing up our foods — it’s sea salt! It’s healthier than table salt and has a burst of flavor that’ll take your taste buds by surprise, on the Breakdown. THE LIST is the national Emmy award winning show where pop culture takes a need-to-know twist. We have everything that’s trending and fun, in the form of a list. Sea salt has more healthy minerals and flavor. Certain salts are meant to be paired with specific foods – kind of like wines. Try some of these sea salts.

1. Sell Gris de Guerande is a beautiful, rich, creamy salt with a high calcium content. It is a good all-around salt. It is rarer than others and is hand raked and harvested off of the Normandy coast. It also contains a bit more moisture than other salts, which gives it a briny flavor.
2. Hawaiian Sea Salts come in both red and black colors. The black one is the more subtle of the two and is crafted with activated charcoal from the local lava flow in Hawaii. It is great for leafy vegetables. The Hawaiian red is much sharper in its mineral content and is earthier in flavor. It really accentuates the flavor of root vegetables and brings the sweetness forward in sliced tomatoes.
3. Smoked Salts give you a more with the flavor. There are applewood and hickory flavors, which are the more traditional barbecue flavors. You can also get a great campfire-like flavor with the mesquite salt.
