Inside Cardi B’s Showstopping Grammys Look

Bella Breakdown

If there’s one woman to make the world turn and look at her, it’s Cardi B. When she arrived on the red carpet Sunday night, she emerged in something that can be described as art and fashion. That’s right, Cardi walked down the carpet in a real life version of Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus.” Complete with a mermaid like silhouette and pearls, Cardi absolutely slayed in a true tribute to the power of femininity.

The gown is actually vintage Thierry Mugler Couture from the 1995 fall couture collection. When the outfit walked down the runway in ’95, it was equally as showstopping, and achieved much acclaim from the fashion world. Model Simonetta Gianfella wore the gown down the runway, with Vogue calling it a “fitting end for this list of the nineties’ most unforgettable fashion shows.”

Celebrity hairstylist Tokyo Stylez helped Cardi recreate the hairstyle from the 90s runway, complete with an over-the-top pearl headpiece. “I saw the old photos and brought that vision to life,” Stylez exclusively told Refinery29. “It was actually very inexpensive. I got the pearls at a local crafts store and the hair from the brand Lustful Hair. All of it was very affordable, so it didn’t cost much.”

All we can say is that Cardi stole the show between her fab look and flawless performance.
