Mothers, Children, And Working Out

Bella Breakdown

As a mom, I feel as though I’m under constant pressure to workout and achieve some sort of insane, post-baby body. The idea of which, is totally crazy. The truth of the matter is, despite the fact I got back to my pre-baby weight, my body is completely different!

I have muscles in places I didn’t have muscles, and I have fat and excess skin in places I didn’t before. I had to get past this idea of achieving a certain body type. Because honestly, that should never be the goal. It sets you up for failure.

What should be your goal is getting in shape. Because I don’t know about other moms, but I am chasing my toddler and lifting him up constantly. I need stamina and strength just to get through the day with him. I have found that I am more fit than I was when I was playing sports. I enjoy my daily workouts, and they’ve truly become a time when I can zone out and just focus on me.

I understand it might be difficult to carve out time in your busy day to work out, but I have no doubt there is room in your day to exercise. I actually got the ball rolling by taking my little guy on long walks, which turned into jogging. At times I actually used his little toddler body as as weight, albeit a wiggly, laughing one.

Don’t give into the pressure to “get your body back after baby”. Get fit because you’ve got a kid to keep up with!
