The Big Family Switch: Dad Takes On Mom’s Role

Mom & Dad Swap Roles, Things Get Interesting

It’s a classic family dynamic; dad works late hours in the city and mom takes on all the household and childcare responsibilities. This is how the Johnson family currently lives their lives, in fact, when mom, Michelle, was asked what percentage of the household work falls onto her she shoulders, she answered with a whopping 80%.

Well, during this week’s Big Family Switch, mom is taking time off to spend in the garden while dad gets the joy of tackling all of the household chores. How will he hold up? Let’s find out.

Dad, Roy, is about to get a crash course in how to maintain his own home and it’s safe to say he’s in for a bit of a surprise.

First Roy heads off to do the laundry, a chore that’s made rather difficult for him given that he is unsure of how to start the washer and where to put the detergent powder.

Next, he’s off to clean the bathroom while mom goes for a bike ride with the kids.

At this point, Roy is confident that he would rather be at work than home doing the chores. It’s this realization that spurs him to appreciate all the things Michelle does to keep their home in working order while he’s out at the office. After only a short time, the week’s Big Family Switch has made a huge impact on the Johnson family dynamic.
