Emilia Clarke Had A Good Reason To Turn Down “Fifty Shades” Role

Emilia Clarke almost had a new franchise to be the star of besides “Game of Thrones,” but thought better of it. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Clarke revealed she happily turned down the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey.

“Well, Sam is a magician. I love her, and I thought her vision was beautiful,” Clarke said of director Sam Taylor-Johnson. “But the last time that I was naked on camera on [Game of Thrones] was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman.”

Sadly, it’s a double standard that the “Game of Thrones” star is “sick and tired” of. “I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my tits, for God’s sake. I did a minimal amount and I’m pigeonholed for life.

The trilogy would go on to star Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, who also wasn’t the film’s first choice. The final installment of the film was released in 2018 and while there is a film plot, the series is known more for its nudity and sex scenes. So we see why Clarke turned the role down.
