Ina v. Chrissy: Whose Roast Chicken Recipe Is Better?

Bella Breakdown

It’s a chicken fight! Chrissy Teigan swears that her roast chicken slays Ina’s, so we cooked both. Ina’s roast chicken recipe is famous. It has nearly 1,000 reviews on FoodNetwork.com. She claims she can do it in her sleep. Chrissy insists her roast chicken recipe is better because of her secret compound butter and lots of garlic — 23 cloves! Chrissy even calls hers “Better Than Ina’s Roast Chicken.”

To make Ina’s:

Combine carrots, fennel, onion, olive oil, salt, pepper, and thyme in the roasting pan, then set the raw chicken on top of it.

Add salt and pepper, lemon, garlic and thyme to the chicken.

Brush the entire bird with melted butter (Ina says it makes the skin more crispy)

Then, sprinkle a little bit more salt and pepper on top.

Bake at 425° for 90 minutes.

To make Chrissy’s:

Add carrots, parsnips, onion, garlic, salt and pepper to the roasting pan.

Next, spread the compound butter (butter, garlic, chopped herbs, lemon zest, salt, pepper) under the skin of the chicken, as well as all over the top of it.

Then, stuff the cavity of the chicken with lemon and herb sprigs. Bake at 350° for 90 minutes.

Our taste testers think the winner was Ina’s
