There is truly nothing better than friendship. But the quality of a friendship can take a nose dive if your friend is a narcissist. If your so called friend is negatively affecting you, you may want to reevaluate your friendship. Here are some tell-tale signs that your friend is a narcissist. If you see these signs, steer clear!
If you used to have a ton of fun hanging out with them and now you are just drained and exhausted after spending time with them. You may not realize it, but this is not healthy and you should probably take a step back from the friendship.
They believe that their opinion and their way of seeing things is the only way. In other words, it is their way or the highway. Someone making you feel that your thoughts and ideas aren’t important is not good. Find a friend that respects you and your opinions.
They are really generous- or they just say they are. They trash talk mutual friends. If they are doing this, they are probably trying to make themselves look better and make others look worse. Don’t give into their behavior.
When you offer advice, they think you are attacking them. You are simply just trying to be a good friend, walk away from this behavior.
If you notice these signs in any of your friends, it does not mean the friendship is simply over. Try having a conversation with them and explaining what is going on and how you feel. If they simply can’t understand and get defensive, maybe the friendship isn’t meant to be.
