The Cast Of “Bridgerton” Reveals Filming Secrets And Season 2 Spoilers
Bella Breakdown
The new hit Netflix series “Bridgerton” brings together a new cast of actors to create a hit series based on the series of romance novels by Julia Quinn. The hit series is based in the 1800s during the peak of the aristocracy and the cast reveals the creative process of making this hit series.
The cast reveals while filming for “Bridgerton” it was compared to summer camp with the cast and crew spending a lot of time together during their time off in between filming. Some of the cast enjoyed making coffee while others would sunbathe with some cast members comparing it to having a small vacation while working on the new series.
As the series is deeply involved with the aristocracy, the cast spent six weeks at a ‘regency boot camp’ before filming started. The regency boot camp covered things the cast needed to learn that were common knowledge for people of the 17th century including intimacy coordinators, horse riding lessons, dance rehearsals, and etiquette training. The cast says that this boot camp helped to further develop the character and learn more about their specific role in the series.

Some of the cast also had additional lessons for boot camp based on their characters including cast member Phoebe Dynevor (playing the role of Daphne Bridgerton) who would also have piano lessons. The two main characters Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset a.k.a. the Duke of Hasting (played by Regé-Jean Page) also went through a lot of preparation for the steamy intimate scenes.
The two actors auditioned and landed the roles together which helped build the intimacy captured by the on-camera couple working closely with an intimacy coordinator to add authenticity to the love scenes. Dynevor attests that the intimacy coordinator also ensured the pair were comfortable while filming closer intimate scenes that built the relationship between the characters on screen.
“Bridgerton” was a massive undertaking for Netflix with hundreds of crew members working behind the scenes to bring the romance novel series to life. The executive producer of Shondaland, Shonda Rhimes, introduced the romance series to the writer and co-executive producer Chris Van Dusen.
🤯🤯🤯 Thank you @netflix. Thank you @shondaland. Thank you to this insanely gifted cast and crew and of course, thank you Julia Quinn! No words! Happy 2021! 🎉🎉🎉💫💫💫 https://t.co/8T6toqrIHc

Rhimes told Van Dusen about the series, giving him some of the books from the series to read and he fell in love with the characters of the story. Van Dusen explains that he felt a sense of escapism reading the book and wanted to adapt it into a series for all to enjoy through a visual medium.
The book series is known for passionate romances but isn’t comparable to the steamy scenes depicted in the Netflix series and some of the cast members had to warn their families before watching. Regé-Jean Page decided to surprise his family and not warn them at all of the steamy scenes despite appearing in a majority of intimate scenes.
The cast was so close during production that a majority of them have developed friendships off-screen. As “Bridgerton” surrounds the narrative of a family, the cast members became so close during filming.
Some actors get the chance to keep props or costumes from production but none of the cast members were allowed to keep anything from production and for good reason. It turns out that production is seeking to continue the series with a second season. Netflix has yet to confirm the second season of “Bridgerton” but it seems inevitable as the series is one of the most-watched original series in the history of the streaming service.

Writer and producer Van Dusen explain that he isn’t able to reveal too much about season 2 but give a hint related to the book series. In the Bridgerton book series, there are eight books with each book following the love story of each of the eight Bridgerton children.
Season 1 of “Bridgerton” was based primarily on the first book of the series following the love story of Daphne and hints that the show could follow each book of the series. If the Netflix series follows the order of the romance novels, it seems that season 2 will focus on the love story of the eldest son Anthony Bridgerton in his journey to find a wife.
Much like the first season, this journey to find love will be filled with dramatic plot twists but promises more from the Bridgerton clan in season 2. Netflix has yet to confirm the start of filming but rumors predict they should be in production by March 2021 but the grand production scale could lead to a premiere date by 2022.
