These Copycat Oatmeal Creme Pies Will Make You Never Buy Again

Bella Breakdown

Little Debbie’s oatmeal creme pies have been a childhood favorite for every generation since the 1960s. However, as the years passed the sweet dessert has changed its recipe from a more firmer cookie to something softer and gooier. Most likely due to the added food dyes and cheaper sugars.

For those of us who miss the good ol’ days of nostalgic desserts the perfect oatmeal creme pies recipe has finally been found. Before starting on your baking endeavors, you will want to make sure you have the following ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, oats. And that’s just for the cookie.

Once you mix all of the above ingredients into your mixing bowl scoop the dough and shape it into balls according to your desired size. Place the dough onto a cookie sheet and repeat the process until your cookie tray is filled. Bake at 375F for nine minutes.

While your cookies are baking, it’s time to start on the delicious creme filling. Mix your butter and vegetable shortening in a mixing bowl. Then add powdered sugar and marshmallow creme to the mixture before mixing all four ingredients together. By now, you should have taken out your cookies and placed them somewhere to cool. Either with an icing knife or with a piping technique add the filling onto one-half of the cookies. Take the un-iced half and place them on top of the iced cookies. Once that step is complete you can either share your delicious creation or enjoy them for yourself.
