Cheryl Hines opens up about navigating rumors, loss, and lessons learned amid her husband RFK Jr.’s political chaos.
Actress Cheryl Hines is responding to the renewed rumors about her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and journalist Olivia Nuzzi by correcting the record and maintaining her composure.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star examined the flurry of rumors that followed reports of an alleged affair between Kennedy and Nuzzi during his 2024 presidential campaign in an open and emotional preview for her upcoming appearance on The Kate Miller Podcast, which premieres on October 28.
With her characteristic poise, Hines stated, “I think you always have to consider the source.” That’s where I begin. After that, there is a dialogue with Bobby.
Hines clarified that she was able to put the commotion into perspective because the rumors came at a time when she was already dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil, just after losing her nephew. “You are dealing with a genuine family situation and a genuine loss. At best, having a story like that is distracting, she said. “However, it didn’t even rank in the grand scheme of things that truly matter in life.”
When podcast host Kate Miller asked about Nuzzi’s forthcoming memoir, American Canto, which is set for release on December 2, Hines didn’t mince words. “At that time, Bobby had been running for president, and it was an exhausting year and a half of headlines and chaos,” she said. “So when that story broke, I just thought, ‘Okay, this is more chaos and more rumors.’ It was a lot.”
The Emmy-nominated actress made it clear that she doesn’t personally know Nuzzi and has no intention of making any assumptions. “I have no idea who this person is or what their goals are. Hines laughed and said, “I could guess, but I won’t.” “But if you’d like, you can.”
Hines also considered the more general lesson she has learned from her husband’s tumultuous campaign. “Some people are very interested in participating in the discussion,” she stated. They put a lot of effort into writing content that will attract readers. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not; if it generates clicks, they’ve succeeded.
Kennedy has since assumed the contentious position of Secretary of Health and Human Services. Prior to supporting former President Donald Trump, Kennedy ran for a brief period as an independent. Nuzzi has made a comeback as the West Coast editor of Vanity Fair.
Hines continues to prioritize her family, truth, and perspective over the headlines. She said, “Life has a way of showing you what’s real.” “Everything else is just noise.”
