Katie Couric is teaming up with theSkimm to explore the stories of successful women and their journey to the top, starting with getting to know the director of fashion partnerships for Instagram, Eva Chen.

Chen works hard in an out of the office, especially at the gym with her co-workers. Chen says that team workouts with her co-workers gives her the motivation to go, also helping to build a bond with her co-workers.

When asked if she is worried about what to wear everyday for work, she says that she doesn’t but focuses on her choice of shoes for her daily Instagram post. You heard correct, Chen posts a picture of her shoes everyday and has made a name for herself as the shoe queen.

She might be known for her shoes but she is a growing fashion icon that works with model, designers, stylists, photographers, and magazines. If you check out her Instagram it seems like she lives in fashion week featuring behind the scenes and from the runway.

Chen also talks about having self-confidence to be more successful, especially for younger people on the platform that might feel the effect of conformity. Her experience at Teen Vogue taught her that you have to find you passion and dive into what make you happy, while not worrying about what other people say.

She also gives us her exclusive photo-taking tips that include natural lighting and authenticity of being yourself. Another tip for taking a great photo is a great location that you feel is a good experience to share and remember.

Chen says the best Instagram photo comes from being yourself and being authentic to your personality. This speaks true to Chen as she initially was going to enter the field of medicine but then found her calling towards fashion, wanting to gain more experience in the fashion industry.

Though her parents were initially disappointed in her choice, they saw how happy she was working in fashion and later accepted her choice, seeing this was her passion. This exemplifies her mantra of finding what you’re passionate about and committing yourself to your true passion.

Eva Chen is a role-model for fashionistas and everyone that wants to follow their passion for something greater in life.
