It may not have been a royal baby, but comedienne Amy Schumer has welcomed a newborn son into the world. The actress gave birth to her first child on Sunday with her husband Chris Fischer right by her side.

“10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born,” Schumer posted on Monday referencing the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child born just a couple hours after Schumer’s. Named Gene Attell Fischer, the couple’s son was named after comedian Dave Attell who recently invited the comedy star to perform at his show in January.

Just before heading to the hospital on Sunday, Schumer decided to sneak into the Met Gala where she posed for her own red carpet photos while workers continued setting up for last night’s event. “Met look this year. Last night on the way to the hospital,” she wrote.

Schumer first announced her pregnancy last October, just eight months after marrying Fischer, a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author and chef. The news came as a footnote at the bottom of a recommended congressional and gubernatorial candidates list. Much like her child’s birth, Schumer also announced her pregnancy news not too long after the royal couple shared their own baby news.
